The Albrecht family are amongst the pioneers of viticulture in Alsace.  The history of the Albrecht family as winegrowers can be traced back to 1425 with Romanus Albrecht, who established himself in the town of Thann, in the south of Alsace. The Albrecht estate includes prestigious Alsace terroir in the ‘Grand Cru Pfingstberg’ and several superb vineyards including the famous ‘Clos Schild.’

In 1698, Balthazar Albrecht settled in Orschwihr, just south of Colmar, where the family winemaking continues today. Since then he and his successive generations have worked with the same hardworking spirit and in their success has proven their dedication to the vineyards. The Albrecht family is also a pioneer of Cremant d’Alsace since they began producing it in 1971. Thanks to their perseverance this method was officially recognized and granted the A.O.C. status Cremant d’Alsace in 1976.

Marie and Cecile Albrecht, two sisters, are the 19th generation of the Alsace family owned winery.  Marie and Cecile are continuing to improve the long standing practices that have set their family’s winery apart while remaining committed to tradition. Today, their approach emphasizes a harmony with nature in the vineyards in order to produce hand-crafted wines that represent their terroir and family heritage. Each harvest is hand picked, whole bunch pressed using pneumatic presses and gravity racking, and the wines are aged in either stainless steel vats, glass lined vats, or oak barrels.

We welcome you to enjoy everything that the Albrecht family of wines has to offer.
